The History of Our School

In 2001, Mr. Daukayev and his wife established the Marat Daukayev School of Ballet in mid-Wilshire Los Angeles.

Since its founding MDSB has grown from a handful of students to one of the largest and most well-regarded ballet schools in Los Angeles. MDSB has taught and trained more than 2,000 students.

MDSB welcomes all children who wish to apply themselves to develop and practice the discipline of classical ballet. All of our students have the opportunity to train with exceptional teachers, whether they aspire to dance professionally or simply study ballet to develop self-discipline, confidence, or physical fitness.

While the school offers an all-embracing and supportive community in which students can learn the discipline of classical ballet, whether or not they have professional aspirations, the school has earned a reputation for providing sound classical training and for preparing students to go on to professional schools and companies. Some of the companies that have offered places to its students include: the Royal Ballet School of London, the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, the Royal Swedish Ballet School, San Francisco Ballet School, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School, Tulsa Ballet, and Stuttgard Ballet.
