Ages 3 to 6

PREPARATORY LEVELS

Creative Movement, Pre Ballet 1, and Pre Ballet 2

Ballet Beginnings

Our youngest dancers begin with Creative Movement at age 3, exploring fun, playful movement while learning basic stretches, warm-ups, and early ballet steps to engaging music.

As students progress through Pre-Ballet 1 (ages 5–6) and Pre-Ballet 2 (ages 6–7), they build coordination, focus, and a small ballet vocabulary, while learning to follow instructions and work cooperatively. These levels provide a strong foundation for future ballet training in Level 1 classes.

Guidelines for Families

To help ensure a safe and positive experience for all students, please review the following guidelines before your child’s first class

  • Students must have reached their 3rd birthday before registering for Creative Movement.

  • Students must be potty trained before beginning class.

  • Parents are not allowed in the classroom. Children who may struggle with separation should wait until they are ready to join the group.

  • We ask that parents not leave a crying child in the classroom. Teachers are focused on instructing the class and cannot supervise children who are not ready to participate.

  • Parents of children age 5 and under are asked to remain in the lobby area for the duration of class. Teachers and staff are not responsible for escorting children to the restroom.

  • Students must arrive on time. Teachers reserve the right to not admit children who are more than 20 minutes late.

Dress Code

Traditional leotards or dance dresses (leos with skirts attached) are acceptable as long as they are the appropriate color for the level. See the table below.

Tights are required for all ballet classes. Ballet tights and shoes should match and may be worn in traditional pink or in tones that best match the dancer’s skin tone, according to personal preference.

Hair must always be worn up and away from the face and neck (in a bun, if possible) and securely fastened.

Creative Movement dancers may wear pink tutus.
